Why buy pre printed labels?

Reduced risk of misprints or errors

Every label is printed using high-resolution equipment, checked for quality, and verified for sequential accuracy, helping avoid scanning failures that could slow down workflows.

Better for high-volume workflows

In fast-paced environments like Biochemistry, Haematology, and Microbiology, every second counts. Pre-printed labels arrive ready to use — no waiting on printers, no mid-shift reloads. Just peel, apply, and keep your workflow moving.

Consistent layout and legibility

Pre-printed labels maintain a uniform look across departments and shifts. That means clearer identification, easier sorting, and fewer delays in your workflow.

Fully customisable

Choose the layout, size, colour coding, prefix/suffix, and adhesive that works for your workflow. We'll guide you through the options and supply samples for sign-off.

Frequently asked questions

Can labels include both printed and writable fields?

Yes. We can produce labels with pre-printed fixed fields (institution name, barcode, accession prefix) alongside blank or lined write-on areas for field data entered at point of collection.

What sizes are available?

We produce labels to any custom size; from micro insect labels a few millimetres wide to full herbarium sheet labels. Just send us your dimensions or an existing label as reference.

Can I include my institution's branding?

Absolutely. We can incorporate institution logos, coat of arms, and specific colour schemes. Supply your artwork and we'll integrate it into the label design; or we can design something from scratch.

Do labels work with collection management software?

Yes. Our barcodes are compatible with standard collection management systems including Specify, EMu, and others. We can print any barcode symbology, Code 128, QR, Data Matrix, to your specification.

Can labels withstand chemical preservatives?

Yes. We offer materials specifically rated for exposure to ethanol, formalin, and other common preservatives, ensuring print remains intact throughout specimen processing and long-term storage.

What is the minimum order quantity?

Minimum quantities vary by material and format. Contact us with your requirements and we'll advise on the most cost-effective approach, whether that's a single label type or a range across a collection.

Will I see a proof before printing?

Always. We follow a two-stage sign-off: first you approve the blank material, then a printed proof. No full run begins without your explicit sign-off at both stages.

How do I get a quote?

Email us at sales@sciamed.co.uk or call 01975 564111. It helps to have your label size, annual volume estimate, any existing artwork or samples, and an idea of storage conditions. We'll take it from there.
